Hi everyone! Welcome to CocoBeanCountry!!

For years, I’ve been told that I should “do something” with my love for food. Ideas ranged from holding classes to opening a restaurant to starting a YouTube channel. Why then did I choose to write about/catalog my food? Simple, it’s the lasting power that comes with the written word. Something that endures whether you desire it to or not. I’ve tinkered with all of the aforementioned ideas I’ve been given of bringing my passion to life but I guess, I wanted something that I could look back on and see my growth while at the same time sharing with others. I cannot say this website will even be read by more than my mom (hi mom) and super supportive family and friends but, I know that I’m passionate and I think this journey could be fun.

With that out of the way, it’s time for introductions. My name is Corinn! I was born in Brooklyn, NY before it was on anyone’s radar, raised on Long Island and currently live in Busan, South Korea. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been incredibly obsessed with food. As a young child PBS (the public television station) was a literal lifeline for me. My childhood was filled with watching The Culinary Institute of America’s filmed classes, Martin Yan, Julia Child, Jacques Pepin, Great Chefs of the World and more. This interest in food was nurtured by my mother and father who let me experiment endlessly in the kitchen from a young age and eventually paid for years of subscriptions to the top food magazines and culinary school. A pseudo-Southerner by birth, there was always food around cooked by either my mom or dad.

Needless to say, when it came to career choice there was only one choice as far as I was concerned. I went to Culinary school in NYC to learn how food worked and to lead others in the serving and distribution of food, an outlet to which we each have a distinct and deeply personal connection. I have never and will never consider myself a chef, but I love feeding people and educating others about food. I married a cool, uber artistic guy named Claude a few years ago. We pretty much spend all our time navigating this thing called life just like everyone else while supporting each other in our various interests (I have him to thank for the awesome logo).

With this website, I’ll share with you my passion for food. I’m a firm believer in making things from scratch and my recipes reflect that belief. I truly think everyone can cook (even things that are supposed to be difficult) if they give themselves a chance. So, maybe you’ll learn something new here or maybe you’ll find a new favorite recipe, but mostly, I want everyone who visits to have a sense that food isn’t something to be intimidated by, and it doesn’t have to be gimmicky. Food is something we can each connect with on the same level no matter who we are or where we come from.

If you have any questions or would like to reach out to me for any reason you can click (here), I’d love to hear from you.

Blessings
Corinn
